Technology In The Classroom

"Technology in the classroom" is a blog written by students in a US history class.Everyday different students take turns updating the class blog. The class is named US History Research Seminar and is called ushrs for short. The teacher's name is Mark and he teaches his students the importance of technology and social media in the classroom. He allows his class to blog and use twitter to communicate with other students around the world by posting their work on the internet for everyone to see. Posting their work online gives the students the chance to receive instant feedback from other viewing their blog.
This class also helps students work on their writing skills through blogging. Especially, by using correct grammar and punctuation. Students and write freely in this class without being contained to paper and pens. The teacher in this class feels that blogging and social media can play an important role in helping students understand topics, improve writing skills, and learn great forms of communication.

MY RESPONSE

I am happy to learn that a class like this is offered in high school. When I attended high school, history was just another lecture class that required lots of note taking. I Didn’t learn anything about blogging until I reached college.Teaching kids that technology can be used for other purpose besides entertainment is wonderful. Technology can be used for many purposes and learning is one of them. I also think that the teacher is are correct when he say that blogging helps students improve their writing skills. I believe that the more that you do something the better you will become at doing it. Blogging can become fun once you get the hang of it. One great benefit of blogging is that you can get instead feedback for others around the world. Students can receive a lot of different opinions as well.

This week I was assigned to a 4th grade class blog. The 4th graders who wrote the blog are from the UK. The blog is about a story that the teacher read to the class called "The Three Little Bears". The students in this class pretended to be goldilocks and wrote an apology letter to the bears. They explained to the bears why she ate their food and broke their chairs. The children even tried to correct her mistake by saying that her daddy would fix the chair. The letter was short and sweet. The lesson that this class is learning will help them be caring adults when they become older. It takes a big person to apologize when they have done something wrong.

My response

I love the message that your class is learning from reading this story. Apologizing when you do something wrong is a noble thing to do.People are more willing to forgive when they hear the sincerity in your words. Keep up the great work!

The Outsiders Characterization: Ponyboy

This blog was written by a student named Thomas. In the blog post, Thomas describes characteristics of another little boy named Pony Boy. Pony Boy is a charter from the book called the "outsider" who is caring and brave. He cares about his family and other people. In the book the boy runs into a lot of trouble.

My response

You did a great job telling your readers about the character from the story. I think that it is sad that this little boy had to see someone get killed. This boy in this story had to be very brave to help save kids from a fire. The story helps people understand that a hero could be the person that you least expected.

On The Telly
On the Telly is a blog post that was posted by two America people living in Ireland. The post informed people about what was aired on Ireland's television stations. I was excited to learn that they are keeping up with the United States news. The blog post also informed us about the economic crisis in Ireland. Ireland's crisis reminded me a lot of the recession in United States. I am glad that they posted this information on their blog. I believe that it is important that we try to stay in tune with the world around us.

My response

I am happy to hear that you are being updated on the news here in the US.The Sky News channel seems to be reporting the same stories we hear in the US. The election and hurricane are all over the news. Reading your blog post makes me feel connected to an news channel in Ireland. Its sad to hear that they had to receive a bailout and are in debt because of it. Ireland seems to be following in the US footprints. The US is trying to come out of an recession and Ireland is going into a recession. I am disappointed to learn that Ireland reflects U.S. tv in a bad way. I wish that they would air positive U.S. tv shows instead of negative shows.
